September 12, 2013: Model for a Day Competition
The event was planned by Maria DiLeo, the marketing director of Roosevelt Field Mall and Kristen Innvar, the assistant director of mall marketing at Simon Property Group and sponsored by Winthrop-University Hospital Breast Health Center. Leeana of Long Island's K98.3 morning show was the host for the evening.
In the North Court, the contestants were judged in three categories: personality, appearance and runway walk. The show included 6 men and 22 women who were judged by Maria DiLeo and Andrea. When asked what key feature she was looking for in the contestants DiLeo said, “I am all about personality. I wanna see someone that can rock that stage and is not afraid to show their personality and how confident they are, that’s what I want to see.” On the other hand, Andrea, the second judge and manager at Intimacy said “I think I want to see a great walk... I want to see some sachay, some shante...”
Based on tonight’s performance, two winners, one male and one female, will be given a makeover and will have the opportunity to work alongside professional models. The winners will be announced tomorrow, September 13, through the Roosevelt Field Mall Facebook page. The link to their page is below.
